Samsung USA seems to have taken charge for a change and is releasing the latest security update to Galaxy devices before its counterparts in other countries. The November 2023 update for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 debuted in the US earlier this week, and now a similar update for the Galaxy A53 is also coming to stateside users before others.
Some carrier variants (including T-Mobile) of the Galaxy A53 have received a new update that is accompanied by firmware version A536USQS8CWJ8. The update focuses on security enhancements and is devoid of any other changes, so if you were hoping for new features, you will have to wait for the phone's Android 14 update, which is currently available in some countries through Samsung's One UI 6 beta program.
The November 2023 security patch tackles a total of 65 vulnerabilities, 48 of which affect the core Android operating system. Five of those vulnerabilities are marked critical while the others pose a high or moderate risk. The remaining 17 vulnerabilities only affect Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets, and two of them have to do with devices that are powered by an Exynos processor and use an Exynos modem for connectivity.
As usual, you can download the latest update over the air from your phone's Settings » Software update menu. Manually updating using a Windows PC is also an option, and you can download the necessary files from our firmware archive.
